Introducing Willow |
|
|
|
July 2010 |
| Willow was surrendered to us after being orphaned when her Mum & Dad were hunted for food in the Gawler Ranges. She is a Red Kangaroo just like Kevin, however most guests mistake her for a wallaby. Her fur is long and fluffy and her stature is quite small compared to most Reds. We believe the difference in appearance is a regional variation in the species. Although Willow is still timid and a little flighty she is feeding well and thriving on all the love and attention she receives. |

Kevin's Story |
After being brought to us since being orphaned, Kevin arrived at one of our busiest periods when Phil was busy running tours and I was due to drive to Adelaide for the AFTA Holiday Expo. Bringing him along was the only option and the wonderful team at Turnstyles Exhibitions & Events and visiting public to the highly informative and inspiring expo welcomed Kevin with open arms. He soaked up the attention and took the constant action in his stride. Needless to say Kevin now has a growing fan club of admirers.
Thanks for being so caring everyone. Kevin is thriving and settling in well. |
|
Kevin currently requires around the clock attention and four hourly bottle feeds. He hangs snuggly in his recycled blanket pouch that we have made especially for him, but prefers to be cuddled for extra comfort. |
| |
As Kevin grows we will be posting regular updates on his progress and covering his major milestones.
So remember to keep checking back. |
| |
Accompanying us on our 4wd and walking adventures keeps Kevin in constant contact with us and helps him gain confidence and social skills. Guests are intrigued to learn about the intricacies of rescuing techniques and leave with a renewed understanding of these beautiful creatures and the need for us all to to slow down on the roads. |
|
May 2010 |
| Kevin is growing fast and loves to accompany Phil on tours. His favourite food to munch when exploring the great outdoors is the salty seaweed he finds along the way. |
| Kevin is a gentle soul and seems unperturbed by all the daily action around him. He shows affection by sharing quiet kisses and gazing into the eyes of his admirers. |
| |
July 2010 |
| While the sun is shining, Kevin likes to play outside with the older Kangaroos. He bounds along with amazing agility and speed, then relaxes and grazes on the natural grasses. As the evenings are currently quite chilly Kevin loves to come in and spend time with our family lounging around enjoying cuddles, before he retires for the night in the warmth of his purpose sewn pouch after a night bottle. |

| Wander's Update |
| Wander has now left the house and her pouch permanently and lives with the other adult Kangaroos on our property. She is always happy to have a hug when we see her and loves the occasional smooch from the dogs still, but now realises that she IS a Kangaroo and it's time to behave like one. |
